Vasil Dinev is a Bulgarian photographer based in Bremen. His work has been published in STERN, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Weser-Kurier, GEOlino and fluter.de.

He studied Photojournalism and Documentary Photography in Hannover, including a period at the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka in 2017. During his studies, he interned at GAF (Gallery for Photography) in Hannover. He later worked as a photographer for the Weser-Kurier.

His work received the International Student Prize from Kreatives Wertpapier in 2016 and Honorable Mentions at the International Photography Awards in 2017 and 2018. He was named Press Photographer of the Year at the Bremer Fotopreis in 2020 and 2021. He also received category awards there in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

After graduating in 2021, he joined the VII Academy’s Sarajevo Seminar for Narrative and Documentary Practice in 2022 and began a master’s degree in Photographic Studies in Dortmund. In 2024, one of his photographs was selected for the second volume of Ukraine: A War Crime.
